Steampunk makes a Splash with MTV (again)

by Thistlequick on October 3, 2008

MTV.com have just run a whole Splash Page which celebrates everything Steampunk with more emphasis on comics, than Steampunk Jewelry or Fashion and makes the point that comics themselves have been celebrating and building upon the genre for quite some time.
League of Extraordinary Gentlemen, of course gets a mention, but so does “The Amazing Screw-On Head” – a very strange, hilarious comic and film by Hellboy creator Mike Mignola.
There is also a predictably short film that is a mash-up of sound bytes with members of Abney Park and Evelyn Kriete and Voltaire.
Whilst there isn’t a great deal of material for long-term Steampunk fans, this is another sign that the whole genre is being brought into the mainstream.
