This Post is slightly off the topic of Steampunk Jewelry but there is a really great online movement called the Handmade Pledge and I am keen to spread the word.
In the most basic of explanations, you can take an online pledge to give handmade and request that others do the same for you.
Taking the time and effort required for giving handmade is an idea that fits snugly into the Steampunk genre where most thing are DIY and the Handmade Pledge promotes fantastic sites like Etsy where artists and craftspeople can sell their own handcrafted items online.
I think the thing that I like most about the Handmade Pledge is that its taking a stand in the corner of the handmade, creative and the unique, stating that there is value there, and of course that is something we can all forget amid the daily bombardment from corporations, advertisers and brands.
