As mentioned in a previous post, I have my Clockwork Elves (they finally arrived in the post) working around the er… clock to restock London Particulars after the blazingly busy Holiday rush.

So far, I have a number of new pieces of Steampunk Jewelry in the works including new earrings, necklaces and cufflinks.

This week I’ve been concentrating on Steampunk Rings.

The Ring is formed of a Vintage Ruby-Jeweled Watch Movement and measures 15mm by 18mm and is set upon an adjustable ring.

Gadzooks! Its a Brass Butterfly and there – at its centre is a Vintage Watch Movement!
This One-of-a-kind Steampunk Ring is made from antiqued brass and is adjustable for sizes 7-10. Naturally, if your finger is smaller, you can contact me and I will be more than happy to adjust the piece for you.

A Steamy Steampunk marvel in Silver and Dark Blue tones. This Steampunk Ring was crafted using Vintage Ruby-Jeweled Watch Movements embellished with gorgeous Dark Montana Blue Swarovski Crystals.
Like most of my Rings, this one is adjustable and is formed from high quality silver-plated stamped brass filigree.

I’ll be making a new video of my Steampunk Rings in the near future as I seek to revamp this website.

I just made a new range of Steampunk Rings and thought I would offer you a preview. They’re now available in London Particulars and as mentioned previously, if these have sold out just let me know and I will make you some new Neo Victorian Rings! I cannot ever match any of these pieces as my Watch Movement Steampunk Jewelry is always unique but I may be able to make something similar.

This Steampunk Ring is a blend of a Gorgeous Silver Plated Filigree Ring with a Vintage Mohawk Watch Movement with Ruby Jewels. The soft silver tones of this piece were so gorgeous that I decided to leave it “plain” and unadorned with Swarovski Crystals.

This rather wonderful piece of Steamy Green Goodness was fashioned with a Vintage Swiss Ruby Jewelled Watch Movement set upon intricate and subtle filigree. The Green Goodness of the piece comes from the four Emerald-Green Swarovski Crystals set into the piece.

This Steampunk Ring is one of my homage’s to Horological Collage Cog and Gear Designs.
This piece is made with Vintage Watch Movements which I have arranged to make this unique design. The Gears really pop out against the black bevel.
The Ring itself is Silver Plated Brass and frames the Watch Movements nicely with the Silver and Brass cogs contrasting with the deep black and soft silver colors.

As you may have noticed my Steampunk Jewelry shop is getting a little low in items. After Christmas, I was expecting sales to slow and they have done the opposite. January was an amazing month and with Valentine’s Day coming I’ve been selling a lot of Steampunk Cufflinks (for him) and a lot of Red Neo Victorian Necklaces (for her) as well as Steampunk Rings (for him, her and it!).

I’m in the process of making a whole new range of Jewelry and this will be posted to London Particulars over the next few days. A lot of people contact me via this website asking for specific pieces which are shown in the Blog posts and these have often sold by the time they’re shown here. So I’ve decided to start to preview my new work on this site before it arrives in my Etsy shop!

I recently made some new Steampunk Jewelry pieces to replenish my shop, ransacked as it was by a horde of keen-as-mustard Christmas shoppers. Indeed, I am still crafting new pieces but thought I would take a moment to share this new Neo Victorian ring.

The Bright Purple colors are a fitting antidote to the endless gray skies which are hovering over Seattle like a ghastly drear fog.

The ring is made from a Vintage Ruby Jeweled Watch Movement and is set with the aforementioned Bright and Shiny Purple Amethyst Swarovski Crystals.

Perhaps you’re in a brighter climate, so do you still need this rather shiny piece? Of course you do. Because at any moment it seems, a deluge of dead birds can fall from the sky blocking out the sunlight as they dive headfirst towards the earth. Here, for your delectation and delight is one of my brand new Steampunk Rings, a vintage wonder ablaze with soft pink Swarovski Crystals.

I use a lot of Swarovski Crystals in my work, as do a lot of jewellers and I wondered where the term Swarovski came from. I was interested to see it’s the surname of their creator, Daniel, who lived in the fabulously named “Bohemia”. But what surprised me is that Swarovski Crystals are actually a Victorian creation. Because I only ever see the crystals in a modern context, it surprises me that they have been around since the 1800’s.

So Mr Swarovski’s splendid crystals are perfectly fitting for Steampunk Jewelry, a happy confluence!

Well your history lesson is over for the day and you are now armed with a fascinating fact (or maybe not).

Here’s one of my latest Steampunk Jewelry pieces; a fabulous (I do say so myself) Neo Victorian Emerald Ring.

Emerald is of course a magnificent color, brought to popularity by Queen Cleopatra and soon became her favored adornment.
There really is no scientific data to suggest that the asp which killed Cleopatra was attracted to the emeralds, indeed there is speculation that asps favor turnips, weasels and oatmeal. Although this theory is indeed unproven and may be complete gibberish, either way – you will be perfectly safe wearing this highly prized Steampunk ring. Unless you clasp a small viper to your chest…

I recently made this rather spiffing (if I do say so myself) Steampunk Jewelry Ring. This one, unlike most of my other Neo Victorian pieces, actually has a mechanism which allows it to spin.

Imagine, if you will, your airship crash lands in some awful, inhospitable wasteland and your miles and miles from any form of civilization.

Why, if you were wearing this absolutely gorgeous Steampunk ring, you could use the spinning apparatus to catch the gleam of the sun or moon and reflect it far into the distance, to signal to any curious souls who may be scouring the horizon with their spyglasses.

I don’t mean to claim that this ring might actually save your life, but who knows. It certainly might in a parallel universe and its always worthwhile investing in ways to protect your parallel others…

Ruby Red Steampunk Ring

I’ve been hard at work making a new collection of Steampunk Rings and this is one of my latest pieces, a beautiful Seventeen Ruby Jeweled Watch Movement. It’s already set with Jewels, but I added a large Ruby Red Swarovski Crystal to really make it stand out.

Sometimes these vintage Watch Movements need no enhancements, but this one is slightly grimy, in the best post-apocalyptic sense, so I thought a splash of red crystal would counter-balance the grime and wear which comes with age. It’s great to have a little wear now and then, rather than shiny-new jewelry which whilst it looks nice and sparkly, hardly fits with the Steampunk aesthetic.

As mentioned, I have a whole range of Steampunk Rings and hope to feature some more of these tarnished wonders in the near future!

Deep Crimson Steampunk Ring

I’m really pleased with how this Steampunk Ring turned out, it’s a study in scarlet (or perhaps crimson) and silver. The ring is made from a vintage Elgin oval seventeen ruby jeweled watch movement which I then set with nine deep Red Siam Swarovski Crystals.

One word of warning, if this Steampunk beauty is spotted upon your finger, it may attract the attention of a passing vampire, who may mistake the red crystals for drops or deepest red blood.

I recommend carrying a small bulb of garlic in your pocket, and if you can fit a stake into your other pocket then all will be well…

The Navigator Steampunk Ring

I recently made a new piece of Steampunk Jewelry which I have given the lofty title of “The Navigator”.

This Ring would look perfectly in place upon the finger of an Air-Ship Captain, navigating the clouds on their airship, the ship lit up with the soft reddish pink hues of dusk as they pursue their quarry in a hunt across the clouds.

It doesn’t take much for the mind to wander…

The ring is made from an antiquated brass ring which is adjustable and holds an enameled bezel. I also used Vintage Watch Parts and arranged them in a collage set below a clear sealant which gives a perfectly glass-like finish.
I really hope you will like this new Steampunk Ring and will consider it an essential accompaniment in your adventures, be they earth or sky bound!

I’m working with a lot of color in my Steampunk Jewelry, maybe it’s the first hints of Spring and perhaps the last of Winters drear, a reappearance of crisp blue skies – or maybe I just like Swarovski crystals! I hope you do too!

This Steampunk Ring is designed from a Vintage Swiss Ruby Jeweled Watch Movement set with two soft, rose-pink Swarovski Crystals.

I love Vintage watch movements, each one is completely unique and quite often I leave them plain to show off the artistry of their makers, but sometimes the odd crystal here and there can enhance their unique beauty!

This is one of my latest Steampunk Jewelry Rings and I love this piece and wish I didn’t have to sell it!
The top of the ring actually spins and turns the tiny gold and silver gears at the top of the piece.
I describe it as Kinetic Steampunk!

The actual Watch Movement is formed from a Vintage Seventeen Ruby-Jewelled piece mounted upon an antiqued Brass Ring which is also adjustable and is fashioned from a vintage tooling.

The giddy sense of rapture which you are no doubt feeling as you behold this beauty is due to your own inherent tastes, not bedevilment and the Ring cannot assist you in levitation (I answer this, because I have been asked…).
It can however make you a true wonder to be regarded, that is its true magic!

I just fashioned this Steampunk Ring in the Raging Furnaces of Hades (or the moderately hot summer of Seattle for pedants).
I love Swarovski Crystals and how they gleam, this one has a hot-pink and topaz Crystal (as I’m sure you can see!) which offsets the rich gold of the watch movement!
This is going for a song at London Particulars, a small remuneration considering the sweltering heat one has to suffer – now back to the furnace I return, handkerchief and clockwork fan strapped to my Top-Hat.

I have been making Jewelry for some time and when I discovered Steampunk it was love at first sight!
I’m completely taken with the idea of an alternative Victorian Age, of billowing clouds of steam, airships and mad inventors (rather than the real life Victorian age of poverty and covered table legs!).
My Steampunk Jewelry began to sell slowly on Etsy, along with my Husbands Art (he uses London and Victorian Silhouette Art in a lot of his imagery so its in keeping with my jewelry). Things were slowly ticking over with weekly sales but I had absolutely no idea how things would take off in the run up to Christmas, with my sales trebling!
If you’re a fellow craftsperson and new to Etsy then I wholly recommend you have adequate packaging ready. I think recycling is vital and make a concerted effort to keep wasteful packaging to a minimum, but when your trying to get up to ten packages ready to ship at the same time – making boxes out of old Amazon packages can get weary!
I think a lot of new seller in a similar situation to mine, I saw one Etsy Seller who ended up selling around 1000 novelty soap products in a day! I can only imagine what her house must have looked like! And then there are those frosty looks from the other customers in the line at the Post Office – it seems the Christmas spirit can thaw temporarily in those endless lines!
I think part of reason that I have had such a hectic time with my online store is the way that Steampunk has really taken off and crossed over into the mainstream.
From something that was once a niche, it’s branched out and now a lot more people have become aware of the unique and inventive crafters who are making such fantastic Steampunk wares.
So this may have been a Steampunk Jewelry Nightmare before Christmas for me – but its one I would gladly repeat.
Next year I will be prepared!
